EmpowerED Leaders

EmpowerED Leaders

EmpowerED Leaders leverages one-to-one relationships between experienced professionals and emerging leaders to support professional development, enhance skills, increase self and situational awareness, and expose emerging leaders to diverse strategies and perspectives. This relationship builds confidence and fosters self-improvement.

The “EmpowerED Leaders” initiative is delivered through a Mentor-Coach model, within the following framework.

Rationale

International Christian schools often promote individuals to leadership positions from within the organization, despite limited preparation or experience. While developing competencies of subordinates who are committed to the school and its ministry and then promoting from within is viewed as an effective strategy in schools, the absence of training and experience in many cases leaves these individuals ill-prepared to survive and thrive in the positions to which they are promoted, impacting the individual and the school’s operation and ministry.

The Program:

A unique service providing a mix of organic and structured support and content delivered by experienced school leaders, designed to help emerging school leaders face the challenge and succeed in the crucible of leadership, supporting them in a process of growth, potentially leading to future formal study in school leadership.

Participation in the program is focused on developing understanding, inviting self-awareness, and sharing interpersonal experience. This takes place organically according to what each participant in each Cohort brings to the session and intentionally, according to content provided by the Mentor. The Program is committed to fostering each participant’s spiritual, professional, emotional, personal, and relational wellbeing and growth.

The TrustED 360 Leader Assessment is included in the Initiative and is administered after the participant has completed at least one semester in a leadership role, as a data source to inform each participant's leadership and identify areas to be intentionally addressed in the mentoring program.

The Initiative is intended to provide a service that is both affordable to the target schools and yet values the contribution of the service provider. The program is structured and managed to ensure its value and the commitment of all parties to its success.
